First night in student halls didn't go so well:) I woke up around 2am because I was FREEZING!!! I know, I'm not allowed to complain about cold weather when it's so much colder in Finland, but still! I had brought sheets with me as they only give you a mattress here, but I didn't have a pillow or a blanket. And apparently that wasn't enough. I had my towel as my pillow so I couldn't use it as a blanket so I took one shirt of mine to warm the feet. What a shame, I'm officially old now because I can't sleep in 13 degrees or something like that. There is no heating in the student halls so you just have to keep yourself warm.

In Polyu they have this Buddy Project like I mentioned yesterday. So I was going to meet my buddy today:) I arrived in Hung Hom station Exit A1 on time. My buddy, Christy, was a bit late but that's allowed for women. She recognized me quite fast, I guess it's quite easy to find a tall European from a crowd in here:) We went to our university for a guided tour. Christy showed all the important places on campus. We also went to eat in one of the cantenes. In here we don't get any student discounts on meals, everybody eats at the same price. But luckily the prices are quite cheap. For my first meal ever in Polyu I took BBQ Pork with rice. It cost 16 dollars without drinks, that's about 1.5 euros so that's not bad. And the cantenes are also open till about 8pm so it's possible to eat both meals there and save some bucks. Unfortunately the menu remains quite same the whole year, so I might get an overdose of BBQ Pork at some point;)

From the campus we got a pre paid mobile phone card for me. My local number is 906 523 16 if anyone needs to contact me. Mobile phone numbers are a little shorter in here than in Finland. We also had to get me an Octopus card. That card is amazing! You can buy those from subway stations and it's not just for public transports, you can also use it in restaurants, supermarkets and even bars! So why bother to carry cash with you when one card is all you need?

After my buddy meeting I returned to the student halls. In there I met Sami again and his room mate Jukka. Jukka was leaving that night so I bought his blanket... the night was saved! I also took some other stuff they were not going to take back home to Finland. It was quite good to come here early. Thanks again Sami and Jukka!!!

Still no sign of my room mate. On top of my bed there was a pillow. I guess the previous owner left it as a legacy so I just took it. Didn't want to sleep another night with towel as my pillow. If it's someone's I can always wash it and return it.

Because I already gave my phone number, I might as well write down my address in here:
